Small, lightweight, practical
The “Simonetta” devices were (presumably) manufactured in the 1960s by Dipl. Ing. Franz Eben in Dachau. Some of them were also sold through mail order companies (Quelle and/or Neckermann).
The first of my two devices is visible above. The amplifier section is fully transistorized; only the level indicator still uses a tube (magic tape). The maximum coil size is 11 cm and the tape speed is 9.5 cm/s. Operates via 5 mono cells or external adapter.
Inputs/outputs: For microphone, turntable, radio, and external power supply. Mono device. 1 built-in speaker.

Unfortunately, the left knob is not original (if anyone has one lying around, please let me know).

The inner workings. On the left in the middle is the motor (with electronic control). Almost all drive components are made of plastic (to save weight).   The device with the cover closed.

Here is the second of my devices. Probably a little newer, as it is already equipped with a moving-coil instrument for level indication and a built-in power supply. This device is fully transistorized. The maximum reel size is 11 cm and the tape speed is 9.5 cm/s (at least most of the time; unfortunately, it fluctuates somewhat). Operation via 5 mono cells, built-in power supply, or external adapter. Inputs/outputs: For microphone, turntable, radio, and external power supply. Mono device. 1 built-in speaker.

Unfortunately, I'm missing the lower sound head cover (maybe someone else has one lying around, please let me know).
